Up close and personal with the fragile petals of the tulip, I realized a striking parallel with the sequential progression of a ballet. As I studied these blooms through my lens I considered the graceful shifting of nature, every living thing entirely unquestioning of its transition through a lifecycle. A story of trust and appreciation for the rise and fall of each season, this fine art floral print is a numbered edition of 50 in each size: 16 x 20 inches and 18 x 24 inches. Available in color or black and white, this flower art comes unframed and printed on Giclée museum-quality paper with a Certificate of Authenticity.
While the beauty and elegance of fresh flowers can be fleeting, artful depictions of their form make them infinitely enduring. Like the compelling stories told by the movement and music of ballet, so too does the tulip have a beginning, a middle, and an end. A floral print that portrays the mesmerizing beauty of this graceful bloom at its best is the perfect way to revisit its elegance time and time again.

Tiny dancers filled with infinite feeling. They will glide to the very tips of their toes, on pointe just to feel closer to the landscape of the sun and stars. The way their legs extend, every movement evoking emotions that are often trapped within the core of our hearts. A want to be able to move in a way that expresses the deepest, most raw parts of our humanity. Ballet mimics nature, the way tulips unfold their fragile petals without a single thought about what could happen if they open.
The movements of flowers are effortless, knowing, true. They do not wait, they do not wonder, they simply bloom when the season is ripe for their blossoming. They trust. There is so much grace in trusting, in allowing ourselves to expand in ways we could have never imagined.
Photographing the intimate details of the tulip, and their allowing and welcoming of my fine art interpretation of their being, was an incredible dive into my own. I was humbled and reminded of the way even in the depth of shadow we have the ability to find lightness, to breathe into the hardships, taking their lessons and weaving them into golden webs of splendor that allow us to become even more than we were before. I love shooting in color and then exploring the world of black and white. How the same image can transform into something entirely new, with its own lessons right below the surface.
Photography is a way of holding moments, to be treasured and visited time and time again. Capturing and viewing flowers in all of their phases allow us to touch in with our own human bodies. Every shifting with each season, so much like the flowers we gaze upon. So much like a ballet with the beginning so gentle and fluid, dropping into the crescendo of feeling where the music and movement reaches for the cosmos, and then the coda, the expanded cadence that lulls us into the end of a sequence. And still we sit in pure awe, processing all that we have just witnessed. Every time I gaze upon these tulips I live the experience again, with new eyes, finding fresh lessons. This is the wonder of art.
