  Paeony - a blossom that's unique and strong! As I photographed this flower, I knew exactly how she wanted to be portrayed. She was sure of her place in the world, and she stood tall. Dignified, proud, almost stubborn. Unwavering, I had to position myself around her as she resisted all attempts to fold or blend in. She stood beautifully alone.

  She is one of my favorite flowers to photograph. Paeony was an invaluable teacher. I see in her the aspects of the women I admire most, and I couldn't resist sharing her creamy face in both full color and black and white. As she holds her ground in the face of opposition, conflict, and coercion, she is powerful. Despite her soft, ethereal form, Paeony shows us all what it means to be imbued with strength, grace, femininity, and vulnerability.
